This blog is a means of sharing my best photos and allows you, the viewers, to get a glimpse of each of the U.S. National Parks and other trips through my eyes until you are able to travel there yourselves. I will post each of the National Parks one at a time and hopefully one day I will have all of them posted.
Some posts are hikes I have taken, but I do not post pictures of every significant point on a trail, nor do I post the pictures in chronological order necessarily. These are just what I find to be the most beautiful things I was able to capture with my meager photography skills.
In April 2013 I will participating in a climb with Big City Mountaineers called Summit for Someone. We will be climbing Mt. Whitney (the highest in the 48) to raise money for BCM. Here is a quote from the BCM site explaining what they all are about;
Big City Mountaineers transforms the lives of under-served urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. We partner with community-based youth organizations and caring adult volunteers who act as mentors in the field to help young people realize their potential. Our curriculum improves integrity, self- esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills in close to 1,000 youth annually. BCM has a proven track record of improving young peoples’ lives with:
• Increased likeliness to stay in school
• Reduction in violence
• Reduction in drug use
The Summit for Someone climbs are essential to sustaining BCM financially, and the money raised through a Summit for Someone climb goes to supporting their mission of serving under-served youth. I have a goal of $4000.00 and if you are interested in helping with this wonderful mission my donation page is here: http://www.summitforsomeone.org/donate?page=4&climber=8482
